Expertise debunked

When I’m asked about experts’ opinions, I think of a Bob Dylan lyric: “Don’t follow leaders; watch the parkin’ meters.”
I was at an ideas festival filled with some bright and accomplished people and I found myself rebuked by what I would consider true ignorance at least three times.
Truly, the best argument against my Stem Cell Theory of Aging (since every Axiom in it is completely standard scientific orthodoxy) is that “it couldn’t be that simple because the best efforts of scientists have been looking elsewhere.”
In the end, I just want to keep it simple. If you ask me if your pants make you look fat, I may choose to withhold information or just lie. But if you ask me whether it is possible that telomerase activation could cause cancer or whether all people prefer RECHARGE to TA-65, I’m gonna leave you with some unanswered questions.
