I wish to write about being a good person because in the wake of Memorial Day, I am reminded of those who died doing their duty, despite what you may think about the underlying reasons for their deployments
I suppose the meta message of this post is that although we would never dishonor those who fell in military service, there should still be a discussion of the war they died in was just or even justified. I would argue that to decouple the legitimacy of their actions with the legitimacy of the mission is essential to honoring them.
Tomorrow is Memorial Day here in the United States, a day when we honor those who died during war. For some historical perspective, here is a list of the seven most lethal wars that mankind has faced. Some people think wars are good for the economy. I don’t agree.
