Did you know that 5% of men under 30 have prostate cancer and that number is as high as 70% over 70? Did you know that even though it can kill you, your doctor might recommend not treating it?

cells from prostate cancer patients with short telomeres and hypervariable lengths were 14X more likely to die of their disease
It is said that 70% of men over 70 have prostate cancer. Does telomerase activation impact the incidence, severity, or recurrence?
telomere shortening was rapid in the blood cells leading up until a few years before cancer diagnosis. In those years before diagnosis, the telomere lengths appeared to stabilize.
When data from the Copehnhagen City Heart Study was published in 2013, they concluded that shorter telomeres in leukocytes was not associated with increased cancer after adjusting for age but that it WAS associated with reduced survival from cancer http://jnci.oxfordjournals.org/content/105/7/459.long
In 2015, the same data looked at certain gene tendencies that promote telomere shortening and concluded that cancer survival was IMPROVED when shortening was enhanced in the telomeres.
Contradiction? Not so fast.
I got an email from a celebrity who takes TA-65 yesterday. I can’t reveal the name but the concern was over an article about TA-65 and increased cancer risk in mice.
Although he didn’t likely say it, this quote is often attributed to Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. “There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.” Well in this case, it the statistics don’t even show what the article claims. In my blog, mentioned in my email reply, I explain why.
