Exosomes 3: A Case of Brain and Neck Trauma
I would like to share a case of a 59 yo woman who is a long time patient, taking TA-65 and Recharge for years. About 15 days ago, she fell hard on the back of the left side of her head. She experienced shoulder pain, neck pain, a laceration requiring stapling of her scalp, and persistent problems consisting of a headache, pressure behind her left eye, neck pain, tingling in her left hand, slurred speech, memory loss, and anxiety about her ability to function in a very busy, people-focused field that requires a high degree of responsiveness and improvisation.
When I spoke to her a week ago, she was slurring her speech and unable to reliably complete her thoughts of maintain the flow of a conversation. I sent her some telomerase activating supplements overnight and her condition improved somewhat although she still felt impaired.
Because she had been following my blogs about exosomes, she wondered if the anti-inflammatory and regenerative nature of the treatments might help. By the time I saw her three days ago, her speech was improved on the telomerase activator but she still seemed anxious, showed poor eye contact, and seemed a bit confused about social cues and the flow of conversation. The day before treatment, she finally got the head CT I had recommended for cognitive problems, neck stiffness, and headache to r/o mass, shift, or bleed. They were able to show that the neck was overly straight and that C7 was sliding out of position, probably causing her hand symptoms. Essentially, she fell and bumped her head and ended up with a concussion and a moderate case of of whiplash resulting in neck muscle spasm and a sliding forward and to the right of the C7 vertebrae as a result; this produced hand numbness.
Three days ago, we injected 3 billion exosomes into each nostril, just under the nasal mucosa next to the inferior turbinates. Within 15 minutes, she expressed a feeling of euphoria which persisted for a short while. In a few hours, she became quite drowsy and had a long night of restful sleep.
When she awoke, the numbness in the left hand was gone, the pressure behind the left eye was nearly gone, and her thoughts were clear. He mood was good and her affect was her original bubbly and joking self.
By the second day, the neck and shoulder pain was gone, the hand was fine, and the pressure behind the eye was gone.
For whatever reason, be it placebo or related to the exosomes, she has enjoyed a rapid and nearly complete recovery in two days and actually most of the improvements occurred overnight. It is possible that the anti-inflammatory nature of the exosomes helped to relax the muscles, allowing for resolution of the whiplash and muscle spasms that were producing subluxation; this relieved the impingement on the cord/nerves from her left hand. Her improved cognition and mood are possibly related to decreased inflammation and some accelerated regeneration the the face of a concussive brain injury.
Of course, exosomes are not FDA approved for anything and this is not standard of medical care. My conjecture as to how it may have helped is only a guess based on science and intuition. Of course, if you ask the patient, she attributes her improvement completely to the therapy but of course the only evidence of that is the time course and there is the placebo effect to consider. I am only glad that she is better, not afraid of losing clients anymore, and back to functioning at her normal bumblebee level of efficiency.
