No amount of training or rationalization can quiet the dis-ease that comes with taking human life. There was a great line in the movie, The Men Who Stare at Goats, where they said that the majority of soldiers in a real combat situation deliberately aim above the enemies because they subconsciously or consciously don’t want to kill.
In the fog of war that we know as the CNN/ESPN news cycle, Americans have abrogated their responsibility for waging war to professionals in the military/intelligence wing of our national interest. Constitutionally speaking, the act of declaring war is the sole power of the congress, which has abrogated that solemn responsibility to the executive branch since WWII.
So just what are the variables that affect population growth?
Sex drive, contraception and abortion, infant and child mortality, economics of child rearing, social normative behavior, anticipated health and lifespan, state or corporate ownership of human chattle.
If you ask someone just to paint, they will say no. But if they sit down for a while and actually do the steps, they create a work of art. The same holds true for believing in telomerase activation.
We are all murderers but the question is to what extent we are asleep, pretend to sleep, or are just incapable of grasping the immense cruelty that exceptionalism fosters in our politics. Is it our conscience that doth matkh cowards of us all or are we in fact just pretending to not know what is happening?
