TA-65 is a powerful telomerase activator
In 2001, a world-class biotech company named Geron made a landmark discovery. The scientists at Geron Corporation discovered TA-65®, a proprietary, single molecule purified from Astragalus Botanical Roots that causes Telomerase Activation (TA).
Astragalus has been used for centuries as a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its usage dates back to the late Han Dynasty (206 BC) when it was considered a “heaven class” herb due to its anti-aging properties associated with an extended life span.

Like Ascorbic Acid (aka Vitamin C,) which occurs in many edible plants, TA-65 is considered a Nutraceutical.
TA-65® is NOT the same Astragalus extract products commonly found in herbal and vitamin shops. There is no ongoing monitoring of people taking them so we don't know what the results may be.
Proprietary Process for Extracting Purified TA-65™
T.A. Sciences is committed to ensuring the highest quality from end-to-end of the supply chain, i.e., from the sourcing of T.A. Sciences' starting raw ingredient in China to the formulation and manufacture of the finished product in the United States
After more than three years of research and development, T.A. Sciences in conjunction with experts in Canada, Hong Kong, and the U.S. has perfected a proprietary method for extracting the naturally-occurring TA-65 molecule from the Astragalus root.
First, T.A. Sciences harvests plant material from specifically selected farms in one small region in China. They are then sent to exclusive plant extraction facilities where the raw Astragalus root is chopped up and refined. After initial extraction, the base ingredient is further purified and then sent to an outside government testing facility where it is tested for purity, heavy metals, and pesticides.
Next, this base material is sent to T.A. Sciences' contracted laboratories in Canada. Each shipment is accompanied by a verified Certificate of Analysis, ensuring the identity and purity of this material. The Canadian laboratory is a modern state-of-the-art facility certified to produce drugs to FDA standards. There, the base material is further processed to yield the single TA-65 molecule. After being refined to over 90% purity, each batch goes through a final inspection, using a proprietary, patent-protected assay exclusive to T.A. Sciences.
From T.A. Sciences' labs in Canada, the single molecule TA-65 is sent-- again with an authenticated Certificate of Analysis to ensure purity, potency, and quality-- to be formulated and produced into capsules by Garden State Nutritionals in the United States. The TA-65 is blended with USP (United States Pharmacopeia) grade excipients and produced according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) for Nutritional Supplements.
By producing under GMP conditions at a facility certified by the Natural Products Association, -- plus T.A. Sciences' comprehensive program of assays and testing throughout the supply chain and production process--T.A. Sciences can assure its clients of the highest level of quality, potency, and purity of TA-65 in each and every capsule. What we say on our label is 100% accurate.
TA Sciences has licensed TA-65 from the Geron Corporation. The telomerase-activating potency of TA-65 has been independently proven in rigorous tests by Geron. Sierra Sciences, a biotech company specializing in telomere biology, has independently tested and found that TA-65 activates telomerase.

Stem cell TA
Geron/TA Sciences verified the ability of TA-65 to induce the telomere lengthening in MRC-5 fibroblasts (skin stem cells.) The Telomeric Repeat Amplification Proocol (TRAP) assay confirmed telomere lengthening at TA-65 concentrations ranging from 0.01 µM to 100µM (0.01,0.1, 1, 10, and 100 µM), with a subtle increase depending upon the dose.
TA in HeLA (immortal cervical cancer cells)
Independent verification was obtained by Sierra Sciences, LLC. Here is a chart demonstrating the effects of TA-65:

TRAP involves measuring the active lengththening of telomeres in response to some test condition, in this case, TA-65 exposure. it is interesting to note the a "ladder" is created because the telomeres are always formed in multiples of 6 base pairs, stamped out by telomerase from the active site, courtesy of activated telomeric RNA.

So you should be thinking, "if TA-65 induces TA in cancer cells, won't it cause cancer?" There are four reasons why it shouldn't:
- It has been thoroughly tested in the Ames Assay and Xenografted nude mice. There wasn't any evidence of carcinogenesis in the former nor clinical tumor enhancement in the latter.
- TA is already active in these cancer cells, so the necessary but insuffiecient condition has already been met. The Cancer Stem Cells theory proposes that stem cells are the cause of all clinically relevant cancers because they are self-immortalizing.
- TA might slow stem cells from rearranging into dangerous combinations, like the Philadelphia Chromosome.
- Immune Health improvements fight cancer by T-cells and Natural Killer function.
